LOGAN, Ut., May 24, 2025 – S&S Worldwide (S&S) celebrates the reopening of The Steel Curtain coaster with Kennywood Park.
The coaster is reopening after receiving structural updates. “We take pride in our rides,” says S&S President and CEO, Jason Mons. “So, when we discovered that the structural movement of the Steel Curtain could impact its longevity, we started making plans both internally and with the park.”
This embodies the ideals expressed in one of S&S’s core values: Integrity. “We stand by our rides and the code requirements and specifications that govern them. We do not compromise ride safety or quality, regardless of the situation, cost, or schedule.” While the Steel Curtain was always safe for guests to ride, when S&S realized the structural movement could affect the longevity of the ride, the engineering and service teams went to work, partnering with park management and other industry professionals to get the ride running for guests again.
S&S has enjoyed the collaboration throughout the project. "Working with Kennywood, Palace Entertainment, and Parques Reunidos, has been such a great experience,” says S&S Executive Director of Sales and Marketing, Trever Dyer. “We are grateful for such committed partners that share our long-term vision to keep this amazing ride running for many generations.”
S&S couldn’t be more excited for Kennywood guests to experience this record-breaking coaster again. At 220 feet, The Steel Curtain is Pennsylvania’s tallest roller coaster. The ride also boasts two other records, the highest inversion and most inversions in North America with nine.
